Explore Queenstown's beautiful Lake Wakatipu on board a vintage steamship (TSS Earnslaw, 1912) and enjoy a delicious gourmet BBQ lunch at Walter Peak High Country Farm...
*Please note the TSS Earnslaw will be on survey from 4th - 29th June 2024 - a replacement vessel will be used during this period - thank you*
Your afternoon begins with a magical cruise across Lake Wakatipu aboard the TSS Earnslaw, a vintage steamship launched in 1912 and rich in local pioneering history. She is the only hand-fired commercial passenger carrying vessel in the Southern Hemisphere.
Arriving at Walter Peak High Country Farm on the opposite side of the lake it is time to disembark for the ambience of the Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant situated in beautiful gardens.
The menu includes an extensive range of local and New Zealand produce, succulent meats cooked on the rotisserie, a delicious range of vegetables and salads. Then finish with your dining experience with tantalising desserts, cheeses and freshly brewed tea and coffee.
Following lunch, guests have the opportunity to gain insight into high country life with an entertaining and informative farm demonstration, or explore the beautiful lakeside gardens. A quintessential Kiwi experience combined with the elegance of a bygone era.
The entertainment continues on the spectacular night-time cruise home, where you can join in on a sing-a-long with the ship's pianist or just enjoy the fresh air and stunning views on the deck as the sparkling lights of Queenstown draw closer.

A perfect day to cruise on the SS Earnslaw to Walter Peak station for an excellent bbq lunch and sheep shearing, sheep dog demonstration. It was a well organised event and a grand day out on a grand, elderly working steamship.
Our son has made Queenstown his home and as this is the third time we have visited him, we can certainly see why! This was also our third bbq cruise on the wonderful Earnslaw which is always on our to-do list. The scenery is stunning, and the food offered at Walters Peak Farm is absolutely scrumptious. I highly recommend anyone to to make this a holiday must for a fantastic experience.
Excellent hosts and lunch. Farm show was great. The whole experience was spoilt by unruly, rude, loud and ignorant Chinese who shouted, pushed, took every seat on the boat and talked through all announcements and the dog show. Twice my wife was roughly pushed aside. Perhaps guides that can assist them with local culture and manners would help?
Myself ,husband & 2 friends were " blown away" by the experience. Wonderful food, & so much of it. The most amazing, genuine friendly international & Kiwi staff. Couldn't have asked for more. We would all highly recommend this journey. Hang onto those wonderful staff members. We would give eleven out 10 or 6 of your 5 stars. I was going to write to Real NZ with our praise. Now not necessary due to this review. Many thanks.

Lovely food and breathtaking views
Had a lovely time on cruise, food was excellent and breathtaking views. Only complaint is that when we arrived at Walter Peak for the BBQ lunch the receptionist was a bit rude when I asked if we could sit outside because it was such a lovely sunny day which we don’t had much of. Her response was do what ever you want no one is listening anyway. But not one’s was there an announcement made of what the rules are for sitting outside.
